Aberdeen Avenue in Hamilton has been named the worst road in Ontario for the second consecutive year due to persistent potholes and poor maintenance, according to the Canadian Automobile Association's (CAA) 2025 Worst Roads campaign. Barton Street East in Hamilton and County Road 49 in Prince Edward County round out the top three, with plans for significant upgrades underway for both. Toronto's Gardiner Expressway also appeared on the list amid ongoing bridge rehabilitation projects causing lane closures and traffic delays. In the Western Ontario region, Ira Needles Boulevard in Waterloo Region was ranked the second worst road, highlighting the need for major reconstruction beyond simple resurfacing. The campaign, which saw a 20 percent increase in nominated roads and a 42 percent rise in municipalities participating, continues to urge all levels of government to prioritize road safety with stable funding and timely repairs. Public feedback emphasizes frustrations with road conditions, but most residents are willing to endure construction inconveniences for improved infrastructure.
