Owensboro Nears Approval for 121-Acre Industrial Site Purchase

The City of Owensboro and the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) are finalizing the purchase of the 121-acre Massie Property, which will become the largest publicly controlled industrial site in the community. The property, located north of West Parrish Avenue and west of the U.S. 60 Bypass, was identified by a national site selection firm as a prime site for cost-effective industrial development and job creation in Daviess County. The purchase agreement, signed in June 2025 at $38,500 per acre—below its appraised value—is pending approval from the Owensboro Board of Commissioners. This acquisition addresses the near-capacity status of Owensboro’s existing AirPark industrial site and is seen as a significant step toward attracting transformative economic development projects. City officials emphasized the site’s strategic location with excellent highway access and the potential to accommodate a variety of industrial projects, with plans to seek state and local grants for infrastructure improvements.
