MLB Players Inc. Withdraws Lawsuit Against Pirates, Sheetz

MLB Players Inc., an affiliate of the Major League Baseball Players Association, has withdrawn its lawsuit against the Pittsburgh Pirates' parent company and Sheetz Inc. The lawsuit, which was filed on August 14, alleged unauthorized use of players' names and images on social media, claiming violations of Pennsylvania law and seeking damages. Following a verbal agreement reached the day after the lawsuit was filed, MLB Players Inc. officially dismissed the suit on December 23. The Pirates had announced a jersey sponsorship deal with Sheetz in June, which was at the center of the controversy. Meanwhile, MLB Players Inc. has ongoing lawsuits against DraftKings, Bet365, and Underdog Sports for similar likeness issues. No comments have been received from the legal representatives of these companies regarding the pending lawsuits.
