Duke and North Carolina

The Duke and North Carolina college basketball rivalry has played 261 times, with North Carolina recently winning 93-84. The universities are located 10 miles apart and the history of the rivalry dates back to the early 1900s. The two universities have a combined 38 Final Fours and 11 national championships. The basketball programs at UNC and Duke were established in 1910 and 1905, and the rivalry has had several notable games including one in 1974 when UNC staged a comeback to defeat Duke 96-92 in overtime. The rivalry is currently in the hands of new coaches Jon Scheyer and Hubert Davis. The two face off twice per season, with the most recent game on Saturday resulting in a victory for North Carolina.
