Boston Common Tree Lighting Celebration Scheduled for Dec. 5

The holiday season is officially starting with several tree lighting events across the U.S. Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square will host its 40th annual tree lighting ceremony on November 29, featuring Santa Claus and performances by local choirs and musicians. In Boston, the 82nd annual Boston Common Tree Lighting, supported by Mayor Michelle Wu and the Province of Nova Scotia, is set for December 5, celebrating a long-standing friendship through the gifting of a tree. This year's Boston event includes performances by American Authors and other artists, culminating in a pyrotechnic display. Niagara Hospice will also hold its annual Light-a-Life Memorial Tree Lighting on December 5, focusing on themes of hope and healing, with activities for families. These events highlight community spirit and festive traditions that bring people together during the holiday season.
