US 50 Bridge Reopens to Two-Way Travel

The northbound lanes of the Interstate 5 Bridge in Oregon will be closed overnight on Monday for maintenance, starting at 10 p.m. and reopening by 5 a.m. the following day, with detours available at Jantzen Beach. Meanwhile, the Colorado Department of Transportation has announced the full reopening of the US 50 Middle Bridge to two-way traffic after months of closures due to safety concerns following the discovery of cracks in the bridge's structure. The bridge had been closed since April 18 for repairs, which involved significant structural work including the installation of steel plates. Although the middle bridge is now fully operational, the Lake Fork Bridge nearby remains under construction and will not reopen until December. CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew expressed gratitude for the community's patience during the extended closures. Residents of southwest Colorado heavily rely on U.S. 50, and these closures have significantly disrupted travel routes.
