Governor Cox Condemns Denver Mayor for Sending Migrants to Utah

Utah Governor Spencer Cox has criticized Denver Mayor Mike Johnston for sending migrants to Utah without proper notification, calling the move 'completely unacceptable.' Cox stated that Utah's resources are depleted due to this practice, which he also attributed to failed federal immigration policies. Denver officials confirmed that about 2,000 migrants have been sent to Utah over the past 18 months, with 59 arriving in the last 30 days. Denver claims the migrants choose their destinations, and the city only facilitates their travel. Cox has urged the Biden administration and Congress to address the broader immigration crisis. Local Utah officials have also noted that emergency services and shelters are at full capacity, making it difficult to accommodate newcomers.
