TRNSMT Festival Prompts 60 Glasgow Road Closures July 11-13
Glasgow is preparing for a busy summer with the TRNSMT music festival set to take place from July 11-13 at Glasgow Green, featuring headliners such as 50 Cent, Biffy Clyro, and Snow Patrol. To accommodate the event, Glasgow City Council has announced major traffic restrictions affecting nearly 60 streets around the park starting from June 26 until July 18, including full road closures, parking bans, and suspensions of taxi and bus lanes, with access limited to emergency and authorized vehicles. In addition to TRNSMT, a World Refugee Day march organized by Stand Up to Racism will occur on June 21, with an estimated 2,000 participants expected to march through the city centre; although there will be no formal road closures for the march, police will implement rolling closures to ensure safety and minimize disruption. Motorists and public transport users are advised to plan ahead due to the anticipated disruptions from both the festival and the march. The city also faces a separate, temporary road closure on Howard Street for emergency Vodafone manhole repairs until June 21. Despite recent stormy weather and flooding, forecasts predict improving conditions with sunshine and warmer temperatures in the coming week.
