Hong Kong Tuen Mun Road Water Pipe Repair Restores Supply After Overnight Suspension
A burst 900mm water main on Tuen Mun Road near Siu Hong Station caused significant disruption in Hong Kong, leading to lane closures and suspension of water supply to northern Tuen Mun. Emergency repair works started late on May 27 and were completed by around 3 a.m. on May 28, allowing water supply to gradually resume by 6:30 a.m. The incident affected over 20 residential estates and two hotels, although hospital services at Tuen Mun Hospital, Castle Peak Hospital, and Siu Lam Hospital were not impacted, with water wagons deployed as a precaution. The Transport Department implemented lane closures from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on consecutive nights to facilitate repairs. Authorities expressed gratitude for public understanding and coordination with district councillors and care teams during the restoration process.
