Two Fatal Metra Train Incidents in Downers Grove

In Downers Grove, Illinois, two fatal incidents occurred involving Metra BNSF trains striking pedestrians within 24 hours. The first incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, when train No. 1272 hit a pedestrian near the Downers Grove/Main Street station, resulting in the pedestrian's death and causing extensive delays on the BNSF line. The following morning, train No. 1228 also hit a pedestrian in the same area around 7:30 a.m., leading to halted train services and further delays. Both incidents are under investigation by the Downers Grove and Metra Police Departments.
