CMC Receives Approval for $250M Hyperscale Data Centre in Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnamese tech firm CMC Corp has received official approval to build a $250 million hyperscale data centre in Ho Chi Minh City's Saigon Hi-Tech Park, with groundbreaking expected in 2026. The centre will initially have a capacity of 30 MW, expandable to 120 MW, and is designed to support massive computing needs for AI, cloud, big data, and cybersecurity services for millions of users. A key technological feature is the integration of a Digital Twin system, enabling real-time simulation and operational monitoring to optimize performance, alongside renewable energy solutions to meet green data centre standards. This project aligns with Vietnam's national digital transformation goals and aims to establish Ho Chi Minh City as a regional digital hub and AI-powered smart city by attracting R&D centers, startups, and global tech companies. The initiative reflects a broader trend of escalating investment in Vietnam's digital infrastructure, with other major players also developing hyperscale data centres in the region. CMC's chairman emphasized that the facility will allow Vietnamese businesses to access powerful computing resources domestically without needing to send data abroad.
