Teen found guilty of attempted murder in Holbeach

A 16-year-old boy has been found guilty of attempted murder after attacking another teenage boy, also 16, in Holbeach. The victim was discovered with severe injuries, including lacerations to the neck and abdomen, after the defendant threatened to kill him during a phone call to a friend. The incident occurred on July 28, 2024, after both boys had been drinking together. The jury took less than three hours to reach a verdict following a six-day trial, and the defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced on March 3, facing a custodial sentence. The court heard that the defendant had previously admitted to unlawful wounding but denied attempted murder. Judge Simon Hirst indicated that the only issue pending is the length of the sentence.
