Mel Tucker Sues Michigan State University

Former Michigan State University head football coach Mel Tucker is suing the university for wrongful termination and defamation following his firing amid sexual harassment allegations. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, claims Tucker's rights to due process and equal protection were violated, alleging a biased investigation influenced by fears of backlash from past scandals. Tucker contends that he was treated differently than white counterparts facing more serious allegations and is seeking compensation for lost wages, estimated at over $80 million remaining on his contract. The suit names several university officials, including former interim President Teresa Woodruff and Athletic Director Alan Haller. Tucker's attorney argues that the university's actions were pretextual and that he suffered severe emotional harm due to the circumstances surrounding his dismissal. Michigan State has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
