Former DA Employee Arrested for Bomb Threats

Derek Klever, a former paralegal with the Queens District Attorney's office, has been arrested and charged with terrorism after allegedly plotting to bomb a migrant shelter across from his apartment in Elmhurst. Klever expressed his frustrations about noise from the Kamway Lodge residents, claiming he wanted to 'teach them a lesson' by using homemade explosives, including fireworks and nails, potentially delivered via drone. Police discovered bomb-making materials in his home, including a BB gun in a child's bedroom and explosive components wrapped in tin foil. During his confession, he made xenophobic remarks about the migrants and expressed a desire to 'blast them back to Venezuela.' Klever was arraigned on multiple charges, including making a terroristic threat, and he pleaded not guilty. The Queens District Attorney's office confirmed his termination and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
