Cleveland Guardians' All-Star David Fry underwent elbow surgery to repair a chronically insufficient ulnar collateral ligament and a resolving flexor strain, diagnosed by Dr. Keith Meister. The surgery, which involved a hybrid/internal brace and tendon graft reconstruction technique, will sideline Fry for an estimated 6-8 months as a designated hitter and at least 12 months for field play. Fry, who was pivotal during the postseason with key home runs, especially in the ALCS Game 3 against the Yankees, will miss a significant portion of the 2025 MLB season. Despite being limited mainly to DH duties after his injury in June 2024, Fry finished with a .263 batting average, 14 home runs, and provided a major boost to the Guardians' offense. The Guardians also made several roster moves alongside the announcement of Fry's surgery, including Myles Straw's assignment to Triple-A and the activation of James Karinchak, Sam Hentges, and Trevor Stephan from the injured list.
