Cam Ward, the Miami Hurricanes quarterback, was a finalist for the prestigious Heisman Trophy, showcasing an exceptional season with 4,123 passing yards and 36 touchdowns. Despite the Hurricanes' playoff hopes fading after a loss to Syracuse, Ward's performance propelled the team to a 10-2 record, including a nine-game winning streak. He expressed confidence in his candidacy, stating, 'The tape says it all,' and highlighted his standout plays as evidence of his Heisman-worthy season. Ward was celebrated for leading the nation in passing touchdowns, and he also received the Herbie Award as Kirk Herbstreit’s top transfer in 2024. The Heisman ceremony took place amidst a competitive field that included Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, and Dillon Gabriel as fellow finalists. Following the ceremony, Ward is set to lead the Hurricanes in the upcoming Pop-Tarts Bowl against Iowa State.
