Man Charged in Murder of Rochester Hills Man

Two suspects, Carlos Jose Hernandez and an unidentified accomplice, are accused of murdering 72-year-old Hussein Murray and unlawfully imprisoning his wife in their Rochester Hills home by posing as DTE Energy workers. The incident occurred on Friday, October 11, 2024, with Hernandez being arrested in Louisiana, while the second suspect was apprehended in Plymouth Township. The suspects initially attempted to enter the home on the pretext of a gas leak on Thursday night but were only allowed inside the following morning. Once inside, they allegedly killed Murray in the basement and bound his wife with duct tape while ransacking the premises. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office believes the crime was targeted, possibly due to Murray's ownership of a jewelry and pawn shop in Hamtramck. Investigations continue as authorities seek to fully understand the motive behind the crime.
