The Locarno Film Festival has announced six Spanish titles for its 2024 First Look section, showcasing works in progress from independent filmmakers. Selected from over 40 submissions, the projects will be presented at the festival from August 9-11 and will also be accessible via the Locarno Pro Online digital library. Notable titles include 'Prefiro condenarme,' a documentary about Sagrario Fra, a woman convicted of adultery in 1972, and 'L’Aguait,' a film exploring the life of an intersex child in early 20th-century Spain. An international jury will award several prizes, including significant post-production services and financial support, with winners announced on August 11. This year's event is produced in partnership with ICAA and ICEX, emphasizing Spain's cinematic contributions.
