Ecuador international footballer Marco Angulo has died at the age of 22, a month after sustaining critical injuries in a car crash that also claimed the life of his former youth team teammate Roberto Cabezas. The accident occurred on October 7 when the vehicle crashed into a metal barrier, resulting in Angulo suffering severe head injuries and a lung contusion. After spending a week in intensive care, Angulo passed away in a Quito hospital on Monday night. He had joined LDU Quito on loan from MLS team FC Cincinnati and had made two appearances for the Ecuador national team since his debut in 2022. Both the Ecuadorian Football Association and FC Cincinnati expressed their deep sorrow, highlighting Angulo's talent and kind spirit. Angulo is survived by his wife and young son.
