PCB Revamps Squad and Coaching for Bangladesh Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revised the schedule for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, now comprising three matches in Lahore from May 28 to June 1, reduced from five due to logistical and security concerns. Under new head coach Mike Hesson, the PCB has made a bold selection move by omitting star players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, selecting the squad based on recent Pakistan Super League performances. Salman Ali Agha will captain the team, with Shadab Khan as vice-captain. These decisions signal a merit-based approach and a significant shift in team strategy, sparking debate. Simultaneously, the PCB has opened applications for batting, bowling, fielding, and strength & conditioning coaches as part of a broader coaching overhaul.
