Ricky Gervais Plans Adult Animated Series Alley Cats for Netflix 2026

Netflix is set to premiere Alley Cats, a six-episode adult animated comedy series created, executive produced, and co-directed by British comedian Ricky Gervais, in 2026. The show is a slacker sitcom that follows a group of feral British cats who seek companionship while reflecting on everyday life, blending humor and social commentary characteristic of Gervais' style. Gervais voices a lazy, rude, and opinionated cat, and the cast includes frequent collaborators such as Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, Natalie Cassidy, and Tony Way. Produced in a bold 2D animation style by UK-based Blink Industries, the episodes will each run about 15 minutes. Alongside Gervais, Elliot Dear co-directs, with executive producers from Derek Productions and Shush Creative supporting the project. Alley Cats marks a new venture into adult animation for Gervais, who has a longstanding partnership with Netflix through various successful projects including After Life and multiple stand-up specials.
