YouTube Removes Hundreds of AI Bollywood Videos After Bachchan Lawsuit
Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have filed a lawsuit against YouTube and Google, demanding the removal and prohibition of AI-generated videos that misuse their images and violate their intellectual property rights. Following a judge's order and the couple's legal actions, YouTube removed hundreds of such AI-manipulated Bollywood videos, some of which had amassed over 16 million views and depicted fake romantic or intimate scenes involving the celebrities. The couple is also seeking $450,000 in damages and calls for changes to YouTube's AI training policy, arguing that the current policies allow the use of biased or infringing content to train AI models, potentially spreading misinformation. Despite the removals, some videos remain online, and new content continues to appear, prompting ongoing concern from the Bachchans about the misuse of AI technology and the impact on their reputation. YouTube confirmed the deletion of prominent channels like "AI Bollywood Ishq," which had 259 videos, and emphasized its policies against manipulated or misleading content. With India being YouTube's largest market, the case highlights the growing challenges of regulating AI-generated content and protecting celebrity rights in digital media.
