Armani's Final Collection Shown Posthumously
At the closing show of Milan Fashion Week, Giorgio Armani’s final Spring/Summer 2026 collection—the last he personally worked on—was presented posthumously at the Pinacoteca di Brera/Palazzo Brera in a candlelit, paper‑lantern setting accompanied by pianist Ludovico Einaudi, following the designer’s death on September 4 at age 91. The event also marked the house’s 50th anniversary and tied to exhibitions at Pinacoteca di Brera and Armani/Silos showcasing more than 120 archive pieces alongside Old Master paintings and two decades of haute couture. Hundreds of guests and longtime muses attended, including Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, Glenn Close, Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson, creating an atmosphere of reflection and tribute. Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco, the head womenswear and menswear designers, took the final bow as colleagues and designers publicly paid homage with gestures including commemorative T‑shirts and a “Grazie, Mr. Armani.” The collection reiterated Armani’s signature nuanced reduction—unstructured suiting, gender‑blurring tailoring and fluid eveningwear inspired by Milan and Pantelleria—underscoring the enduring cultural impact of his restrained, authoritative aesthetic.
