Beats Launches Powerbeats Pro 2 With Heart Rate Monitoring

Beats has unveiled the Powerbeats Pro 2, its first wireless earbuds to feature built-in heart rate monitoring, priced at $249. Set to launch on February 13, these earbuds boast improved audio capabilities, Active Noise Cancellation, and a 20% lighter design compared to their predecessors. Notably, the heart rate monitoring uses LED optical sensors to track users' heart rates during workouts and integrates with popular fitness apps, although it won't be compatible with Apple Fitness+ at launch. The redesigned ear hooks are made from a nickel-titanium alloy for better comfort and stability, and the earbuds include five sizes of ear tips for a customizable fit. Battery life has seen significant improvements, offering up to 45 hours with the charging case, which now supports wireless Qi charging. This release is anticipated to enhance Apple's wearables segment amid recent sales declines.
