Gogo Receives First FAA Clearance for Galileo FDX Terminal on Boeing BBJ737 Jets
Gogo Inc. has received the first Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its Galileo FDX terminal, which is designed for Boeing 737NG-based BBJ1, BBJ2, and BBJ MAX aircraft. The STC, generated by ALOFT AeroArchitects in partnership with Gogo, enables high-speed, multi-orbit, multi-band connectivity with broadband speeds of up to 195Mbps download and 32Mbps upload, leveraging the Eutelsat OneWeb low-earth orbit satellite constellation. An initial installation of the Galileo FDX terminal has been completed on a Boeing BBJ 737-700IGW previously without connectivity, also activating Gogo's FlightDeck Freedom datalink service to enhance crew operations through trip planning, flight tracking, and real-time weather updates. Gogo's CEO, Chris Moore, emphasized that this milestone highlights the company's capability to provide comprehensive aircraft connectivity solutions. The terminal is optimized for business aviation, particularly super-midsize, long-range, and executive airliner aircraft, and targets approximately 200 Boeing BBJ 737s globally. Gogo anticipates receiving approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency later in 2025, continuing its expansion in in-flight connectivity services.
