Doctor Admits Attempted Murder of Partner

Dr. Thomas Kwan, a 53-year-old general practitioner, has admitted to plotting to kill his mother's long-term partner, Patrick O'Hara, by administering a fake Covid booster jab. Initially denying attempted murder, Kwan changed his plea following the prosecution's opening remarks at Newcastle Crown Court. Investigators believed he may have used a pesticide rather than the suspected ricin to carry out his plan, which he orchestrated to inherit his mother's estate. The court heard that Kwan had an extensive knowledge of poisons and had prepared for the crime with lethal chemicals stored at his home. O'Hara developed a rare flesh-eating disease from the injection, highlighting the severity of Kwan's actions.
