Stewart Cink Defends Ally Challenge Title Beating Ernie Els in Playoff
Stewart Cink successfully defended his title at The Ally Challenge, securing his second PGA Tour Champions victory of the year by defeating Ernie Els in a playoff. Both players finished the regular rounds at 15-under 201, with Cink birdieing two of the last three holes and matching Els' score, who parred his final five holes. The playoff was decided on the first hole, where Cink parred to clinch the win, making him the first back-to-back Ally Challenge champion in tournament history. Cink, 52, also won the Insperity Invitational earlier this year and has eight PGA Tour wins, including the 2009 British Open. Other notable finishers included Steven Alker, Cameron Percy, and Soren Kjeldsen tied for third at 12 under, with Retief Goosen and Thongchai Jaidee finishing at 11 under. Cink's strong performance throughout the tournament, including an opening 62 and a 71 on Friday, helped him overcome Els' challenge in the final round.
