South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer has officially named redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers as the starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Sellers, who previously committed to Syracuse before flipping to South Carolina, has been the projected favorite and was named the first-team quarterback in spring practice. He beat out Auburn transfer Robby Ashford and Davis Beville for the position, replacing Spencer Rattler who was drafted by the NFL's New Orleans Saints. Sellers, known for his impressive high school stats and athleticism, is expected to bring a dynamic element to the Gamecocks' offense. Beamer emphasized Sellers' consistency and improvement throughout training camp, while also leaving the door open for Ashford to see playing time. The Gamecocks will debut their new starting QB against Old Dominion on August 31.
