AllHere Education CEO Indicted for Fraud

Joanna Smith-Griffin, the founder and CEO of AI-based edtech startup AllHere Education, has been arrested and charged with securities fraud, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft. Federal prosecutors allege that she misrepresented the company's financial health and partnerships, claiming $3.7 million in revenue while actually generating only $11,000, which misled investors and secured nearly $10 million in funding from 2020 to 2024. The company's claims of contracts with major school districts were also found to be false. As a result of these fraudulent activities, AllHere Education declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy, leading to significant job losses. Smith-Griffin faces serious penalties if convicted, including up to 20 years in prison.
