Teen Driver Loses Control, Three Killed in Staffordshire Crash

An inquest revealed that three teenagers died in a car crash in Staffordshire when Dafydd Huw Craven-Jones, 18, lost control of his Ford Ka while driving at high speed over a humpback bridge on May 25. Dafydd had only recently passed his driving test and had picked up friends Morgan Jones, 17, and Sophie Bates, 17, from a house party, while another friend, Brooke Varley, 17, survived the crash. At the time of the accident, none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts properly; Morgan was only wearing a shoulder strap. The inquest heard that Dafydd recorded a video expressing concern about potentially speeding at 90 mph in a 70 mph zone prior to the incident. Both Dafydd and Morgan were pronounced dead at the scene, while Sophie succumbed to her injuries two days later at the hospital. Brooke expressed regret over not wearing her seatbelt, highlighting the tragic consequences of the crash.
