Tennis Premier League Set for Mumbai in December
The sixth edition of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) will take place in Mumbai from December 3-8, featuring prominent players like India's Sumit Nagal and France's Hugo Gaston in the men's category, along with Poland's Magda Linette and Armenia's Elina Avanesyan in the women's draw. The tournament will employ a 25-point format, with each of the seven franchises competing in five matches to secure a spot in the semifinals. Each match will consist of men's singles, women's singles, mixed doubles, and men's doubles, with a total of 100 points available per match. The TPL organizers have partnered with various state tennis associations to hold district ranking tournaments and have launched a mobile app to connect over 100 affiliated academies across India. This initiative aims to discover and support young tennis talent in the country. The defending champions, Bengaluru SG Pipers, will be part of the competition alongside six other franchises.
