Netflix Shuts Squid Game Studio Amid Strategy Shift

Netflix has shut down Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio it acquired in 2022 that developed Squid Game: Unleashed and the Netflix Stories interactive titles, a move confirmed by staff posts on LinkedIn and multiple outlets. Both Squid Game: Unleashed and Netflix Stories will remain available to members, and Unleashed amassed more than 10 million downloads and topped charts in several countries. The closure reflects Netflix’s gaming leadership under Alain Tascan shifting away from larger mobile projects toward party, narrative, kid-friendly and TV-focused games. Co-CEO Greg Peters has cited narrative adaptations like Unleashed as examples of the company’s goals even as the games division is reshaped. Netflix declined to comment on the shutdown, staff outcomes are unclear, and the move comes amid recent industry layoffs and earlier internal studio closures.
