Coldplay's Moon Music Tops UK Album Chart

Coldplay's latest album, Moon Music, has debuted at number one on the U.K. Official Albums Chart, marking their 10th consecutive number one album since 2000. The album sold 237,000 chart units in its opening week, the largest for a British artist since Adele’s 30 in 2021, and is currently the second-biggest debut of 2024 after Taylor Swift's release. Most sales were attributed to physical copies, with over 209,000 sold, indicating limited streaming popularity. Coldplay's success places them alongside ABBA, Michael Jackson, and Queen for the most number ones, while The Beatles hold the record with 16. The band is gearing up for a U.S. tour in May 2025 to support the album. Their promotional efforts included appearances on various shows and events, contributing to expectations of topping the U.S. Billboard charts as well.
