The French Bulldog continues to be America's most popular dog breed for the third consecutive year, as reported by the American Kennel Club (AKC). Following the French Bulldog, Labrador and Golden Retrievers remain in the top three, with other breeds such as the German Shepherd, Poodle, and Dachshund also making the top ten list. Notably, the Cane Corso has seen a significant rise in popularity, moving from 47th place in 2014 to 14th in 2024, reflecting a 414% increase in registrations over the past decade. The AKC emphasizes that while the French Bulldog is adaptable and popular, potential owners should consider their lifestyle and conduct thorough research before choosing a breed. Critics argue that AKC rankings may inadvertently promote fads leading to irresponsible breeding practices, but the AKC maintains that the list simply reflects current trends.
