UM Health–Sparrow Opens East Lansing Youth Clinic
UM Health–Sparrow and East Lansing Public Schools opened a youth health clinic at East Lansing High School on Oct. 30, 2025, formalized by a ribbon-cutting and partnership agreement. The walk-in clinic serves young people ages 5–21 (and up to 26 for students in special education) and is open year-round to non-students in the community. Services include primary care—checkups, screenings, immunizations, sports physicals, and treatment of minor illnesses—along with private and group mental-health support, and onsite lab and exam facilities. Care is provided onsite by a physician assistant and a social worker, and the program will bill insurance but offers care regardless of ability to pay with onsite financial-assistance staff to help families enroll in Medicaid or other coverage. The program is funded by a Michigan Department of Health and Human Services grant and is modeled after a similar clinic at Grand Ledge High School. Leaders said the center aims to remove barriers such as transportation, scheduling and cost to improve access to care and student well-being.
