New Jersey's Field Station Dinosaurs Closing, Selling 35+ Life-Size Animatronics on Facebook
Field Station: Dinosaurs in Leonia, New Jersey, will close on Nov. 9 and is selling more than 35 life-size animatronic dinosaurs on Facebook Marketplace. The creatures—constructed of steel, rubber and foam with limited movement and speakers—are listed at roughly $500–$3,500 (examples include a Stegosaurus, Triceratops, T‑Rex and a 75‑foot Apatosaurus) and buyers are responsible for deinstallation, shipping and transport. Park staff say interest has been overwhelming, with calls from museums, zoos, universities and private buyers across the country, but they are prioritizing offers from public institutions that can keep the collection together; the park’s educational programming will continue off-site in theaters, libraries, museums and zoos. Separately, seasonal corn mazes are leaning into dinosaur themes: Forneris Farms in Los Angeles is running a four‑acre maze with train rides, pumpkins and puzzle riddles, while Holiday World in Indiana has a 12‑acre dinosaur‑designed maze that contains two dozen life‑size animatronics (some roaring/breathing) created by “Dino Don,” plus a 500‑drone nighttime show during its Happy Halloween Weekends. Field Station officials say they are accepting offers and seeking good homes for the dinosaurs but had not completed any sales at the time of reporting.
