Ontario Expands Emergency Department at Ross Memorial

The Ontario government is investing in the renovation and expansion of the emergency department at Ross Memorial Hospital in Kawartha Lakes to improve access to emergency healthcare. Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones highlighted that this initiative aims to connect more residents to timely and convenient care. The expansion will include a new mental health emergency services unit and a trauma room equipped with advanced infection control measures, enhancing patient safety and care capabilities. This project comes in response to increasing demand, with the hospital serving nearly 35,000 emergency patients in the last year. Planning and design phases are currently underway, and a construction schedule will be established once finalized. Local MPP Laurie Scott emphasized the importance of this investment for enhancing community healthcare services.
