Josh Hartnett to Lead Netflix Newfoundland Series

Josh Hartnett will star in and executive produce a new untitled six-episode Netflix limited series set and filmed in Newfoundland, Canada, where he plays a fisherman defending his family and community from a mysterious sea creature. The series is created and showrun by Jesse McKeown, with Jessica Rhoades also serving as executive producer. The writers’ room includes veterans from Orphan Black and The Umbrella Academy, and the directing team features Jamie Childs, Helen Shaver, and Stephen Dunn. This project builds on Hartnett’s career resurgence, noted for roles in Oppenheimer, The Bear, Trap, and Fight or Flight. Hartnett and Rhoades previously collaborated on Black Mirror’s 'Beyond the Sea.' No additional casting or release date has been announced.
