USMNT to Play Ecuador, Australia in October Friendlies
The US men's national soccer team (USMNT) will host Ecuador and Australia in October friendlies to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The matches are scheduled for October 10 in Austin, Texas, against Ecuador, and October 14 in Commerce City, Colorado, against Australia, with both opponents already qualified for the World Cup and ranked in FIFA's top 25. These fixtures offer the USMNT valuable experience against strong international teams as they refine their roster under their current head coach. The US holds an even record against both sides, including a 1-0 win over Ecuador in 2019 and a 3-1 victory against Australia in 2010. The October games follow September friendlies against South Korea and Japan, with more exhibitions planned ahead of the tournament. US Soccer will also provide support for flood-affected communities in Texas during the Austin match.
