An 84-year-old woman named Del Boppel was hospitalized after being attacked by a 7-foot-3-inch alligator while walking her dog near a pond in her North Fort Myers mobile home park. Boppel, who had a premonition just before the attack, managed to save her dog by tossing it into the air and fought off the gator by punching it. She sustained injuries to her leg, hand, and fingers but is in stable condition and in good spirits. Neighbors heard her screams and rushed to help, and officials subsequently captured and removed the alligator.
