Grosse Pointe Man Sentenced 25-60 Years Sexual Assault Minor Relative

Robert Allen DeClercq, a 72-year-old man from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, was sentenced to 25 to 60 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a minor female relative in 2020. The assault took place in the bathroom of his secondary residence in Oscoda County. DeClercq was found guilty of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct by an Oscoda County jury. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel emphasized that the sentencing reflects a strong commitment to justice and supporting survivors by holding abusers accountable. After serving his prison term, DeClercq will be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring and must register as a sex offender.
