Everett Wiggums Hollow Park Playground Destroyed in Confirmed Arson Fire

A fire that destroyed the playground equipment at Wiggums Hollow Park in Everett was confirmed as intentionally set, classified by the Everett Fire Marshal's Office as an incendiary fire. Firefighters responded around 9:30 a.m. on October 27, 2025, quickly extinguishing the blaze with no injuries reported. The playground, which had recently reopened in June 2024 after a $700,000 replacement project developed with community input, remains closed indefinitely. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin expressed heartbreak over the damage to the community-loved playground.
