Everett Wiggums Hollow Park Playground Destroyed in Confirmed Arson Fire
A fire that destroyed the playground equipment at Wiggums Hollow Park in Everett was confirmed as intentionally set, classified by the Everett Fire Marshal's Office as an incendiary fire. Firefighters responded around 9:30 a.m. on October 27, 2025, quickly extinguishing the blaze with no injuries reported. The playground, which had recently reopened in June 2024 after a $700,000 replacement project developed with community input, remains closed indefinitely. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin expressed heartbreak over the damage to the community-loved playground. The Everett Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office or the police tip line. The investigation continues as officials seek to determine the responsible parties for the arson.
