Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Reveals 2025 Class
The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class, which includes Detroit sports icons Chris Chelios and Rasheed Wallace and pioneering boxer Claressa Shields. Chelios, a Hall-of-Fame defenseman, helped the Detroit Red Wings win two Stanley Cup titles and is among the NHL's most accomplished defensemen. Wallace played a key role in the Pistons' 2004 NBA Championship and several deep playoff runs. Shields, a Flint native, made history as the first American boxer to win consecutive Olympic gold medals and is recognized as one of boxing's all-time greats. The class also features Michigan State football's winningest coach Mark Dantonio, former basketball star Jason Richardson, longtime Tigers executive Dave Dombrowski, and journalist John Lowe. The induction ceremony will take place on December 19, 2025, in Detroit.
