Miller Gardner's death not asphyxiation, Costa Rican police confirm
Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, did not die from asphyxiation, according to Costa Rican authorities who ruled out this cause after examining his respiratory tract. Miller was found deceased in a hotel room while vacationing with family in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, where several family members also fell ill, possibly from food poisoning. The investigation continues, with autopsy and toxicology results expected in two to three months, as samples have been sent for further analysis. The Gardner family expressed their grief, stating they have many questions and few answers regarding their son's passing. The U.S. State Department has confirmed the death of a U.S. citizen in Costa Rica but did not provide additional details. The Yankees organization, where Brett Gardner spent his entire MLB career, expressed sorrow over the loss of Miller, who was described as a vibrant young man.
