Michael Jackson-Bolanos has had his felony murder and home invasion charges dismissed in the killing of Detroit Jewish leader Samantha Woll, following a jury deadlock on these charges and an acquittal on first-degree murder. Citing the 2009 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Yeager v. United States, Judge Margaret Van Houten ruled that Jackson-Bolanos cannot be retried on these charges. Jackson-Bolanos maintains he found Woll's body while breaking into cars and got her blood on him while checking for breath. Despite video evidence placing him at the scene, the jury found him guilty only of misleading police. The prosecution plans to appeal the dismissal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Woll's family remains convinced of Jackson-Bolanos’ guilt and seeks justice.
