Intel CEO Tan Overhauls Leadership Amid Challenges

Intel’s new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, has launched a sweeping leadership overhaul, marking his first major move since taking over last month. The restructuring flattens Intel’s management, with key divisions—data center, AI, and personal computer chips—now reporting directly to Tan to speed up decision-making and foster innovation. Sachin Katti, formerly head of networking chips, has been promoted to Chief Technology and AI Officer, succeeding Greg Lavender, and will guide Intel's AI strategy. Tan has emphasized eliminating bureaucracy and empowering engineers for greater visibility and engagement. The changes come as Intel seeks to recover from years of stagnation, facing competitive pressure from Nvidia as well as external challenges such as export restrictions to China and a significant loss in market value.
