Franco Colapinto Signs Five-Year Deal with Alpine

Franco Colapinto has officially joined Alpine as a reserve and test driver for the 2025 Formula 1 season, following a five-year agreement with Williams. His manager, María Catarineu, revealed that negotiations were complex but ultimately successful, largely due to the persistent interest from Alpine Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore. Colapinto, who made a strong impression in his limited racing experience, will be positioned to potentially replace Jack Doohan if needed, as Doohan's performance is under scrutiny. While some reports speculate about a transfer fee, Catarineu indicated that it remains unclear whether Williams received any payment for the deal. The agreement ensures that Alpine retains control over Colapinto's career for the next five years, complicating any direct transfers to other teams during that period.
