Nintendo to End Switch Game Vouchers in 2026
Nintendo will discontinue its Switch Game Vouchers program on January 30, 2026, ending the ability for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to purchase two eligible games at a discounted rate, typically saving $20–$30. Vouchers bought before the cutoff will remain valid for a year after purchase, with the latest redemption date set for January 30, 2027. While Nintendo plans to add new titles—including anticipated releases like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A—to the voucher list before discontinuation, the program will not extend to games exclusive to the upcoming Switch 2 console. No replacement discount scheme or voucher program for Switch 2 has been announced. The decision has frustrated fans, particularly as Nintendo’s games rarely receive price drops and previous cost-saving measures like Gold Points have also ended. This move signals a broader shift as Nintendo transitions to the Switch 2 era.
