Teen Arrested After Toddler Accidentally Shoots Herself

An 18-year-old man, Elijah Fauntleroy, has been arrested in connection with an accidental shooting that left a 5-year-old girl injured in Bowie, Maryland. The incident occurred on Brookedge Court when the child found an unsecured firearm brought into the home by Fauntleroy and accidentally shot herself. She remains hospitalized but is expected to recover. Fauntleroy allegedly took the firearm and fled the scene after the shooting. He now faces charges including reckless endangerment and firearms offenses. The Prince George's County Police Department's Gun Crimes Unit identified and arrested Fauntleroy, and he is set to be transported to the Department of Corrections.
