Sundance Film Festival Moves to Boulder, Colorado in 2027

The Sundance Film Festival will relocate from Park City, Utah, to Boulder, Colorado, starting in 2027, after more than 40 years in its previous home. Organizers chose Boulder for its vibrant art community, open-minded culture, and potential for growth, believing it aligns with the festival's mission to champion independent filmmaking. The decision follows an evaluation of over 100 potential locations, with Boulder ultimately winning out over Salt Lake City and Cincinnati. Local officials, including Colorado's Governor and Boulder's Mayor, anticipate significant economic benefits from the festival, mirroring its past impact in Utah, which generated $132 million for the local economy. The festival will utilize downtown Boulder and the University of Colorado Boulder campus for its venues, aiming to maintain the intimate atmosphere that has characterized Sundance.
